Big Sur is one of those places that is so incredibly beautiful in photos that you almost don’t believe it could be that perfect in real life.
Except that it is.
While I had spent months researching the perfect location for Amanda and Camden, I hadn’t yet set foot in Big Sur before in my life. When my husband and I picked up our camper van rental from Outdoorsy and drove down from San Francisco to scout this “perfect location” in person… My jaw was practically on the ground.
I couldn’t believe the landscape in front of me was real! It was legitimately even better than anything I’d seen in photographs. The jagged coastline plunged into vibrant teal waves and swirling aqua coves. The mountains were defined by muted desert hues, but splattered with vibrant splotches of vivid wildflowers and succulents. The contrast was striking, and I couldn’t look away. Needless to say, when Amanda and Camden arrived for this beautifully styled elopement, I was on cloud nine and definitely still in shock.
The fog that moved in from the seas and tucked itself upon the ridge of the mountains behind us set the perfect mood. And although it was cold and blustery, we spent hours adventuring across the coastline. Hiking, exploring, laughing, and making beautiful art and even more beautiful memories. Their chemistry was so genuine, her laughter so contagious, and his love for her so undeniable.
This day and this place will forever remain one of my most favorite days in one of the most incredible places I’ve ever been.
