I have never seen any two people smile as much as Alli and Patrick did in 40 degree weather while practically being blown off a mountain… These two beautiful humans braved a windy and frigid hike up in Asheville, North Carolina with me for their adventurous engagement photos, and I’d say the results are well worth it! I was so intimidated when I realized that it wasn’t just freezing cold; it was also SO windy that we could barely even hear one another the entire time. Fortunately, I had my incredible assistant and planner, Jordan, along with me to help out with everything from holding the bouquet to wrangling Alli and Patrick’s adorable dog who got to come along for the adventure of their windy Asheville engagement photos fall. 

Going With the Flow… Wind, Cold, & Prompts

I expected Alli to be cold to the point of misery in her dress, and probably overly concerned with what the weather was doing to her hair. But I couldn’t have been more wrong! She was fully living in the moment. This couple only had eyes and thoughts for each other, regardless of what the wind and weather were doing around them. They didn’t complain once. They were ready to leap into whatever new prompt or creative idea I had as I frantically rubbed my hands together to keep them warm enough to functionally press the shutter button on my camera! And the results are pure magic because of it.

So just as a little reminder for the ladies out there who are afraid of getting their hair messed up…

You don’t get shots like these without being willing to embrace the wind! While you might think you look crazy, I promise you that wind is like magic fairy dust in photos. I mean, just look at Alli! She is seriously glowing with joy. Her windswept hair and dress made the effect even more breathtaking. She didn’t obsess over constantly brushing the hair out of her eyes or fixing her dress “just so”. She embraced the moment and stayed 100% focused on Patrick and having an amazing experience.

Which is exactly what I care about at the end of the day: you and your love having an incredible, authentic experience together!
