From the moment I first read through Anita and Stefan’s initial inquiry, I knew we were going to hit it off.
For starters, Anita had me rolling with laughter as she described how a friend of hers had set her up with Stefan. You see, her friend spotted Stefan at a fundraiser for pancreatic cancer and decided to make his move by outbidding everyone on the gift certificate that Stefan had donated to the event… Only to find out that Stefan wasn’t actually gay! Her friend decided to gracefully pivot and settle for the next best thing by setting him up with Anita instead! Stefan declined the setup, but her friend cleverly used the opportunity to buy Anita a gift certificate.
She also declined to be set up! But the friend knew she was far too polite to waste the money he’d spent on the gift certificate, so she went in to see Stefan anyways. In Anita’s own words, “I went in to see Stefan once. I purchased 5 more visits. On the 6th visit, I asked Stefan out!!!” At that point she stopped seeing him as a practitioner, and they officially started dating.
Their good humored and down to earth personalities shone through from our initial zoom call, and I loved their heart behind choosing to elope. They knew that if they planned a big wedding for all their friends and family, they would spend the whole day worrying about everyone else. Making sure that all their guests were having a good time… rather than being fully present for the experience themselves.
So they decided to plan a secret elopement! That’s right. No one other than Anita’s son (who helped her pick out her dress) knew they were running off from Boston to get married in
Savannah. How fun!
They chose Savannah for its “southern elegance”, and were captivated by the unique natural landscapes of the southern coastline. And although they originally pictured their ceremony on the beach, they fell in love with the Chapel at Tybee Island and chose to exchange their vows there and spend the rest of their time at the beach and exploring historic downtown Savannah and Forsyth Park.
From the beginning Anita and Stefan fully trusted my vision and we worked together seamlessly leading up to the wedding day to ensure everything was planned out effortlessly. Because the entire day was fully about the two of them, we were able to really take our time. Nothing was rushed or stressful.
The entire day was filled with laughter and joy from beginning to end. From popping champagne on the beach, laughing way too hard as Stefan described the “penis clouds” in the sky, and the looks on their faces when Stefan accidentally snuck a kiss during the ceremony before it was time, the whole day was so authentically them. It was pure joy to experience this elopement day with them.
